Product Description

A miniature handcrafted sculpture of the Portmeirion building known as the Town Hall, from the Portmeirion Village Collection.

The Town Hall was built in 1937 to house a unique barrel-vaulted early 17th Century sculptured ceiling representing the labours of Hercules between signs of the Zodiac.

Having bought the ceiling, Clough felt that he "had to buy all the rest of the room at any cost".

This building was the one that created Clough's reputation for having established a sort of "Home for Fallen Buildings" and Clough described it as "an unbashed pastiche of venerable Jacobean bits and pieces".

The Hall is now used for civil weddings, conferences, parties and exhibitions.

"This is a lovely model, very well detailed, well made and decorative, and will look great in a diorama I'm building. A very good price too. I only hope the collection is expanded to more Portmeirion buildings."

"I love my new model. It arrived quickly & beautifully packed. I subsequently enquired about other models and received a quick reply but it was bad news: no other models and no plans to produce any. Such a shame. Linda Wheeler "

"I'll be honest - I wasn't expecting much for the price. I assumed it would be tiny and poorly-painted, but as I was inspired to build a miniature replica of "The Village", I took the chance and ordered it despite the lack of reviews. I was pleasantly surprised when the model arrived yesterday. It is much larger than I thought, with good weight and remarkable sculpted detail, and the paint job was on par with the quality you'd see in higher-end replica environments, such as those produced by Weta. It arrived in a plain white box, securely held in place between two thick foam inserts, and was completely undamaged despite being shipped halfway around the globe. For anyone on the fence about purchasing this model, rest assured that you will get your money's worth and then some. I can totally see this being used as the centrepiece of an HO-scale model train display."
