Preliminary design for Portmeirion, Merioneth, c. 1925. This drawing is important in Clough Williams-Ellis’s oeuvre as the earliest representation of his vision of a group of structures adapted to a naturally beautiful coastal site and also illustrating his concept of architecture as a mediating element between sea and land.
