This design for Bridge House shows Clough Williams-Ellis’s trend towards a more regular, Classical style in later buildings at Portmeirion, however without losing possibilities for exploiting the terrain; the daring with which Bridge House rises upon exposed arches from the riven rocks contrasts tellingly with the serenity of its façade.
